Welcome to our very first Trend Alert, where we aim to bring you beautifully curated collections of what our Design Team is seeing trending out there in the world of design.
We are so passionate about good design and beautiful things, and wish to share the love.
In today's Trend Alert we showcase a refined and simplistic scheme, featuring contemporary hand-drawn art on soft furnishings, simplified textures and materials, and the use of fresh cut greenery instead of floral in interiors. The colour palette is soft and muted, however carries a slightly masculine under tone.
This combination can create a mature and refined interior that will never go out of style and can easily be added to and built on over time.
Tips to layering and building on your interior design style.
- Start by selecting a cohesive colour and material palette that speaks to you and the whole home. Neutrals act as a great base to start , ie. Cool whites, greys and black. Or Warmer tones of white and lighter timbers.
- Now that you have selected your colours and materials, use this to refer back to when choosing paint, fabric, furniture and decor pieces. Such as floor rugs, lounging and window dressings.
- Next up you can inject those pops of colour and texture with your soft furnishings like scatter cushions, throws, as well as art work. These items can easily be changed up over time as your "palette" and style changes and diversifies.
Below we have curated a few of our favourite things in a refined cool palette. The materials are sophisticated while also being unpretentious. The colours are simple and muted with contrasting tones to add depth and scale in any space.
